How to Manage Coarse Hair
So, you ended up with a big, thick, head of coarse and unruly hair.
What's a dude to do?
First, it's important to realize that coarse hair is often confused
with damaged hair. Often, they're not the same. Coarse hair feels rough,
it's dull, and it can grow in different directions. Coarse hair can
also tend to be very dry.
The upside is that coarse hair is, quite often, very healthy and
strong. The downside is that this strong and healthy head of hair can be
quite the challenging opponent when trying to tame the beast. Here are a
few options:
DRY CAREFULLY
One of the most common ways guys damage their hair is by rubbing their
head with a towel. When the hair is wet it becomes more susceptible to
damage. The hairs get caught in the fibers of the towel and get
stretched out damaged. When drying your hair, pat the hair with a towel
instead of rubbing your head. This isn't a quick fix as they hair that
is already damaged will need to grow out and be cut off for it to go
away. Damaged hair really can't be "fixed" as some products claim.
AVOID THINNING
Many barbers and stylists will try to use thinning shears to help reduce
the bulk of thick, coarse hair. Mistake. Thinning or texturizing coarse
hair can make it look even more coarse. Thinning hair can create lots
of shorter pieces which can actually hold up the longer hair and give a
bushier look. You also don't need to add texture to coarse hair -- it
already has a lot of texture.
USE A MOISTURIZING SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER
Use of a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner on a daily basis can
help soften coarse hair and add moisture if your hair is dry. Two
products I love for this are Caretrico Shampoo Type-H
and Caretrico Treatment Type H. They're quite effective at nourishing dry, coarse hair. Once per week, you can also try a Marbling hair treatment. ( Type H)

Arimino Spice Water
Wonderful product from Japan! Arimino Spice Water Shining Straight is a
light cream that can be used on dry, damaged hair to smooth frizziness
and soften. Many people use it in conjunction with straightening methods
(flat iron, blow dryer, etc) as its name implies, but I just leave my
hair in its natural wavy/curly texture.
Shining Straight is not sticky or heavy like some silicone defrizzers are. It can be applied on wet or dry hair and doesn't build up or weigh down. Spice hair style product has a light scent that doesn't provoke my allergies.
Very few salons in the US carry it, but you can find it online. I plan to repurchase at http://www.vjpeace.com/

The Benefit of Salon Products
A shampoo is just a shampoo. Or is it? All shampoos work the same way; they all clean your hair. Or do they? What is the difference between professional salon products and generic brands sold at your grocery store and Wal-Mart? Is there one? Some will say ‘No’, but yes, there is a difference.
Professional vs. Store Bought Hair Products
Have you ever gone to a salon and purchased a bottle of shampoo and conditioner, taken it home and tried the shampoo? The shampoo will typically lather up very quickly and will require a lot less. This is because the ingredients used in the professional products are typically of higher quality and have gentler surfactants (type of soap used in shampoo). Professional products want to give you an experience! The creators of the products want you to use their shampoo and feel luxurious, to notice the smell, and to see a difference in your final outcome. They want you to use their product and notice a difference. And in this process, the quality of ingredients used is higher than those sold in general hair care.
It use to be that professional products were the only ones that catered to curly hair, straight hair, damaged hair and ‘I need more volume’ hair. But now there are numerous generic brands that have been expanding their lines to cater to the different types of hair. You can even find shampoo for Blondes, Brunettes and even Red heads. But what is the quality of the bargain shampoo?
Professional Products Sold In Places Other Than Salons
You may have been shopping in your grocery store or Target and noticed professional products that are being sold on their shelves. These products have landed on the shelves due to what is called diversion. Diversion is when the product is sold through another source outside its intended channel for distribution. You may have read on the back of a bottle of professional shampoo, ‘Only guaranteed if sold in a salon.” If bought elsewhere, you as a consumers may be getting a product that has been tampered with. Also, a lot of these products are old. I’ve seen discontinued products that were sold in stores 3 years after the product had been discontinued. Hair products have a shelf life of about 1 year. Buying from these stores may save you a couple cents, but you have no idea what else you are putting on your hair. So buyer beware; it’s safer to buy professional salon products in a salon.
It’s Really Up To You
Deciding to use professional products over the generic product is clearly up to you and your checkbook. One way to see if you notice the difference is to buy a bottle of shampoo and conditional from a salon and use it for 3-4 weeks. Notice the way your hair feels and looks. Then go back to your generic brand and see if you notice the difference. I am positive you will!
Clients ask me everyday what hair products are best for there hair to give it volume, lift, hold a curl, or not have frizz. The most important product you can use on your hair starts with your shampoo. It is the foundation for healthy shiny hair. So make the investment in quality shampoo! I would recommend Arimino hair shampoo. This is one of the best Japan hair products.

How to take care of your damaged hair
Do you have unmanageable damaged hair? This article will tell you how to tame and take care of your damaged hair.
- Take a deep breath. Think positive and stay confident. Keep in mind that this process of restoring your hair might take a while, but you are off to a great start, and when you're finished, the results will be beautiful!
- Wash your hair well. Wash your hair every other day. Always use more conditioner than shampoo. Put the shampoo in as you normally do, but remember, not that much, and don't pile it on top of your head as this can cause damage. Then, put the conditioner in, mainly focus on the ends and towards the center of the hair if you have straight or wavy hair. If you have curly hair apply the conditioner to the whole length. Scrub your scalp well with your fingertips. The top of the hair is the part you need to be the least worried about.
- Leave the conditioner in for 5-15 minutes. You can leave the water on, just don't let it touch your hair for that time. During the wait, you can shave, listen to the radio, or wash your body. After the approximate time is over, brush through your hair with the conditioner in. Then thoroughly rinse the conditioner out.
- Bend down and let your hair dangle upside down and put a towel over your hair and gently squeeze or scrunch out the excessive water. Drying too roughly can damage the hair. After you towel dry it, put in a nickel sized amount of anti-frizz/anti-dry products. (Use more for curly or kinky hair.) If you don't have any products for frizz or dryness, just put a little bit of conditioner in your hair. If you have oily or greasy hair, just skip that step, or use a dime sized amount instead.
- Brush your hair with a comb, or a brush with gentle bristles. If you have naturally curly or wavy hair, use mousse, or styling gel while it's wet. Be gentle and work on tangles instead of ripping through them. If you took your shower in the morning, putting it into a ponytail or braid is a good option. If you're getting ready to go to bed, put it up in some fashion so moving in your sleep doesn't cause damage. Braids and a sleep cap can be helpful to preserve the hair, or a high ponytail.
- Let your hair naturally air dry.
- Repeat these steps for everyday that you shower, and you should start to see an improvement in your damaged hair.
- Use marbling hair treatments of Arimino hair care products. your hair. The protein will help rebuild the hair's natural keratin and other deep treatments help the hair retain moisture, especially if your hair is coarse or curly.
- Avoid using chemicals and heat on your hair.
Likely, this is how your hair got damaged in the first place. Avoid too
much hair dye, chemical relaxers or straighteners. Look into natural
hair dyes like henna for red hair, indigo for black hair, and lemon
juice or other citrus for some natural lightening.
- When you go swimming saturate your hair with conditioner before hand, and cleanse well afterward. A swim cap will also help.
- Protect your hair from the sun. You can use a hat or a bandanna while you're outside for long periods of time. Or you can apply a styling product with a sunscreen ingredient such as benzophenone.
- Try not to let your hair get caught in things throughout the day and use friendly hair accessories that don't tangle easily in the hair.
- Wear your hair in protective styles like rolls and braids so that it becomes less tangled and is exposed less to the elements. Make use of hats if you're having a particularly bad hair day, and if you just can't stand your damaged hair, you can acquire a natural looking wig.

How to tame fuzzy flyaways
Do you suffer from the fuzzies? Do you get lots of fine flyaway hair creating that halo effect around your hair?
I do. Mine is a mix of new hair poking through, damaged hair from straightening irons and general humidity affected fuzziness from my curly hair. I usually notice it most when I go to the effort of straightening my hair, leave the house looking fab but in the hurried journey I arrive looking like I just fell out of bed.
So how do you tame flyaway hair?
I like to take a diversified approach and attack from all directions to defeat my wilful hair.
First – You have to target the source

- Use a moisturising shampoo and conditioner that is right for your hair type. Usually dry or coarse hair will suffer more from flyaways, so consider adding a weekly hair treatment to nurture your hair into a softer shape. Use Japanese hair products.
- Repeat after me – I will never ever use a straightener without heat protectant products! Please always use a product designed to protect your hair from heat damage when using irons and when blowdrying your hair too. Use SPICE NEO Serum Mist Curl Deco
- Smooth your hair with a couple of drops of a gloss serum to smooth and add shine to your finished style.

How to Repair Bleach Damaged Hair
Pre-Washing
Using Japanese shampoo and treatments can help to infuse your hair with the moisture it needs to grow its longest. The best treatment to use is Caretrico After Treatment Oil because it actually penetrates the hair unlinke most oils which only coat the hair. It should be applied treatment after washing. After applying, the hair should be covered with a plastic cap. Leave on hair for 5-15 minutes.
Washing
Your choice of shampoo is very important. Shampoos containing harsh sulfates strip the hair and should be avoided. The best type of shampoo to use is one gentle, moisturizing, and sulfate free. But at a minimum, your shampoo should not contain harsh sulfates. Check the ingredients list on your shampoo to find out if they are damaging.
Moisturizing Treatments
Using heat appliances and chemical processes remove moisture from your hair that needs to be replaced. If your hair feels dry, you need to replace lost moisture. Deep conditioning should always be done to the ends of the hair. If a deep conditioner is applied all over, it should be followed with a shampoo (not clarifying).
How often should you use a moisturizing treatment?
A regular light moisturizing treatment should be used following every shampoo (unless a pre-shampoo treatment is done). For very dry and damaged hair, a deep conditioner should be used once weekly. Also, if you use protein treatments often, you may need to deep condition (those that require a shower cap under a heated dryer)
How should the treatment be applied?
Shampoo, then apply the treatment (professional salon products) all over and cover with a shower cap. The treatment should be left in 20-60 minutes. For fine hair, the treatment should be rinsed, followed by a shampoo. For thicker hair, it is not necessary to use shampoo following the treatment.

How to Repair Damaged Hair
The road tohealthy hair is paved with products, potions, protein, and deep conditioners...
oh my! If your hair is fried or suffers from split ends, sun damage,
tangles, and broken brittle pieces, it's time to take charge of your
hair's health. It's easy to forget that our hair can be very fragile.
Exposure to the sun, hair dryers, flat irons, and even daily brushing
can take it's toll and leave you wishing for a time machine. It's
important to remember that repairing damaged hair won't happen over
night, but over time developing these habits will aim you down the road
to recovery.
I am a huge fan of Caretrico After Treatment Oil to get hair with shine and
moisture. Caretrico After Treatment Oil are simple to do right at home. Another my
favorites are Caretrico Marbling Care Essence Type-H or Caretrico After Treatment Concentrated Oil. Too much oil can cause your hair to appear greasy, so
be careful not to over-do it.

HOW
