A shampoo is just a shampoo. Or is it? All shampoos work the same way; they all clean your hair. Or do they? What is the difference between professional salon products and generic brands sold at your grocery store and Wal-Mart? Is there one? Some will say ‘No’, but yes, there is a difference.
Professional vs. Store Bought Hair Products
Have you ever gone to a salon and purchased a bottle of shampoo and conditioner, taken it home and tried the shampoo? The shampoo will typically lather up very quickly and will require a lot less. This is because the ingredients used in the professional products are typically of higher quality and have gentler surfactants (type of soap used in shampoo). Professional products want to give you an experience! The creators of the products want you to use their shampoo and feel luxurious, to notice the smell, and to see a difference in your final outcome. They want you to use their product and notice a difference. And in this process, the quality of ingredients used is higher than those sold in general hair care.
It use to be that professional products were the only ones that catered to curly hair, straight hair, damaged hair and ‘I need more volume’ hair. But now there are numerous generic brands that have been expanding their lines to cater to the different types of hair. You can even find shampoo for Blondes, Brunettes and even Red heads. But what is the quality of the bargain shampoo?
Professional Products Sold In Places Other Than Salons
You may have been shopping in your grocery store or Target and noticed professional products that are being sold on their shelves. These products have landed on the shelves due to what is called diversion. Diversion is when the product is sold through another source outside its intended channel for distribution. You may have read on the back of a bottle of professional shampoo, ‘Only guaranteed if sold in a salon.” If bought elsewhere, you as a consumers may be getting a product that has been tampered with. Also, a lot of these products are old. I’ve seen discontinued products that were sold in stores 3 years after the product had been discontinued. Hair products have a shelf life of about 1 year. Buying from these stores may save you a couple cents, but you have no idea what else you are putting on your hair. So buyer beware; it’s safer to buy professional salon products in a salon.
It’s Really Up To You
Deciding to use professional products over the generic product is clearly up to you and your checkbook. One way to see if you notice the difference is to buy a bottle of shampoo and conditional from a salon and use it for 3-4 weeks. Notice the way your hair feels and looks. Then go back to your generic brand and see if you notice the difference. I am positive you will!
Clients ask me everyday what hair products are best for there hair to give it volume, lift, hold a curl, or not have frizz. The most important product you can use on your hair starts with your shampoo. It is the foundation for healthy shiny hair. So make the investment in quality shampoo! I would recommend Arimino hair shampoo. This is one of the best Japan hair products.

How to Get Wavy Hair Using Mousse
Wavy hair looks great on everyone, regardless of the hair type or style.
It is a great way to add glamour to straight hair, and is a sexy look
for a night out on the town. Getting wavy hair can be a lot of work.
Using a curling iron or crimper or going to the salon can be either
timely or costly. However, getting a beautiful, wavy style doesn't have
to be difficult. It can be easily done at home with mousse and ponytail
holders.
Instructions
-
-
1
Wash and condition your hair. Towel dry, and comb out any tangles. Your hair needs to be wet, but not dripping.
-
2
Squirt a golf-ball-size amount of mousse, SPICE NEO Foam Soft Bouncy( great for wavy style) into your hair. Rub the mousse between your hands. Turn your head upside down, and run the mousse through your hair, from the roots to the ends.
-
3
Flip your head back up. Use the comb to section your hair into four parts: two upper layers and two lower layers. Secure each layer with a hair clip. As you separate the layers, be sure that the mousse in each section is completely absorbed. There should not be any white streaky areas.
-
4
Unclip one upper section. Use the comb to grab a 1-inch section of hair. Comb the hair through, and then holding it at one end, begin twisting until the hair section is twisted end to end. It is important to comb each section through before twisting it. This will remove any tangles, and make sure all the mousse has been equally distributed.
-
5
Roll the twist into a minibun, and secure with a ponytail holder. Continue this process until all hair in the section is twisted and secured with a ponytail holder. Repeat for the opposite upper section, and continue the process on the lower sections.

Styling Tips For Short Hair On Men
Short hair is
hugely popular with men thanks to its versatility, but it still needs
styling to look great. Here are some top styling tips to give you short
hair that has style and panache!
I would recommend you to try Spice Neo Fiber Wax
Step 1: The cut
Just because you are a man, doesn't mean you shouldn't take pride in your hair, so don't be afraid to go to a proper salon, rather than a barbers. You'll get a great cut, that suits you and your life style rather than a generic 'back and sides'.Step 2: Product
When you have your hair cut, make sure you enquire what product the hairdresser is using and how you can replicate the look at home. Whether you are after a gelled wet look, or stylish hold and shape with a wax, your hairdresser will find the right product for youStep 3: Short and messy
Wash your hair and towel dry it. Skip the comb, and head straight for the Spice Neo styling wax. Work it into your fingers and rub them all over the dry hair. This will create a messy yet controlled look which works best on coarse hair, or hair that has been texturized with a razor when cut.I would recommend you to try Spice Neo Fiber Wax
Step 4: Bed Head
If you are after the 'just got out of bed' look, try showering and applying your products before hitting the sack. This will give you genuine bed head style with no effort when you get up, although you may wish to bring the more wild parts under control with a dash of water and wax. Just make sure you keep your hair dry if you shower in the morning.Step 5: The smart look
When you need to smarten up apply some mousse or wax when your hair is dry. Part to one side, and neatly comb it back. This works particularly well if you have a slight wave in your hair, and portrays a tailored, well groomed look. Afterwards, just ruffle your hair to return straight to a fun, tousled look.Thursday, August 2, 2012

Salon Products Vs. Over the Counter Hair Products
Why
are salon products more expensive than over the counter products? Why
should I use salon products instead of over the counter products? How do
I know what product is right for my hair type? These are a few very
common questions and also questions that most people do not know the
answer to. Knowing the right hair products to use can save you lots of
time and money in the long run. The most important thing about a product
is how it makes your hair feel after wards, right? The cleaning agent
in salon products, also known as the surfactant, is gentler than the
over the counter products. Often times, over the counter products can
leave your hair feeling dry, or with product build up in your hair. Many
over the counter products contain harsh ingredients. Ammonium Laurel
Sulfate is often found in over the counter products and can actually dry
out your hair, causing split ends and hair breakage. Salon products
have tons of experts and research behind them. Your hair stylist can
help you choose the salon product that is correctly formulated for your
hair type and for what your trying to accomplish for your finished look.
Most salon products are also pH balanced to your hair's natural pH.
Also, salon products contain higher quality conditioners for your hair
that contain protein and protection. Salon products are also of a higher
consistency than over the counter products. Salon products are more
concentrated, which means that you can use less of the salon product
than the over the counter product and you will still be able to get the
effect you are looking for.
I am sure that you have noticed lately that salon products can be found at your local convenience stores due to what is being called "diversion". Salons should be the only ones carrying professional products, and yet some how they have started showing up at local convenience stores. Professional product companies are stumped and are trying desperately to find out how this is happening and stop it, as the salon products sold at the local convenience stores may be fake, old or diluted salon products. Just remember, stylists are trained in the knowledge and formulation of these salon products, they are your go to guide for your hair problems, and they also make their living off of them. Also, salon products are only guaranteed if you buy them in a salon.
