How to Create Soft, Loose Waves (Not the Beachy Look)

Look at this unique spray. So lovely!

Beachy waves are out, as are shiny perfect curls. Instead, loose, sexy curls are in. Find out how to get them with these step-by-step instructions.

1. Prep hair with a styling spray (I love Peace Chocolate Spray, which works wonders on curly and wavy style).
2. Part hair down the center.
3. Blow dry hair, scrunching hair as you go. If you have curly hair, don't scrunch, instead dry straight with a paddle brush.
4. When hair is about 90 percent dry, separate hair as you would to create two pigtails. Secure pigtails with pony tail holders.
5. Take one side and twist hair in one direction. Hair will naturally twist itself into a bun. Secure at ear level with a ponytail holder. You can keep hair in place with bobby pins.
6. Repeat on the other side, so you have two buns at ear level.
7. Blast the buns and your whole head with the dryer for about 5-10 minutes or until hair seems dry.
8. Leave hair in buns for 10-20 minutes to set. Just before you leave, take hair out of buns and finger comb curls. (Do not brush out). You can apply a SPICE NEO Natural Cream as well to separate the waves and keep them from looking "too perfect."
9. Spritz hairspray and you're done!

Frizz Free Curls

65% of people have curly hair and almost half of them do not realize it! Believe it or not, if you have frizz, you have curl pattern in your hair.

I know, frizz is a bummer. But to beat the frizzies, first you need to figure out what’s causing it. And that involves a bit of science… No chemistry set needed!

Here’s the deal: curls need moisture. People with curly or frizzy hair have an average of 100,000 hairs on their head. People with straight hair have about 120,000 hairs on their head. More hair means more hair follicles that produce natural oils to smooth down your hair. So, less hair can mean less moisture.

And then there’s a curl’s worst nightmare: humidity. If your hair is dry and has not been getting the proper moisture it will become thirsty and “drink” up the humidity outside.
So let’s talk about how to get that frizz under control…


Hands down, you have to use the right hair products like moisturizing shampoo and conditioners will benefit curly/frizzy hair because they do not contain harsh oil stripping detergents.

After you wash your hair, don’t wrap it in the towel turban. I know it might be a habit, but you need to leave the hair saturated to set the curl. Instead, spray a leave-in conditioner and finger through your hair.
